Kuh Ledesma, hayagang nangampanya para kay VP Leni: “My first time to openly campaign for any candidate”

- Reports estimate the crowd, who were mostly wearing pink, to be around 47,000

Pop diva Kuh Ledesma has come out in the open to campaign for the presidential bid of VP Leni Robredo.

Wearing a pink floral blouse with matching pink bandana, the famous music veteran belted out the lyrics of the iconic protest song, ‘Bayan Ko,’ during the ‘People’s Rally’ at the Generial Trias Sports Park in Cavite.

The pop diva also gave VP Leni a bouquet of flowers when the presidential candidate arrived at the place and went up the stage to greet her supporters.

“Tonight was an experience because it was my first time on VP Leni Robredo’s campaign stage and in fact my first time to openly campaign for any candidate,” Kuh revealed.

The pop diva is the original singer of the song, ‘Ako Ay Pilipino,’ the song oftentimes associated with the Marcos administration during the early 80s.

Several other celebrities joined Kuh in Cavite. They include Leah Navarro, Mylene Dizon, Bayang Barrios, Mitch Valdez, and Gab Valenciano.

Reports estimate the crowd to be around 47,000 strong, most of them wearing pink, the campaign color of VP Leni.

Maria Socorro Hashim Ledesma, more popularly known as Kuh Ledesma, is a Pinay pop diva and actress. She was born on March 16, 1955 in Manila to Ilonggo parents with Lebanese lineage. The pop diva moved to Bacolod City during her college days where she met several of her future Music and Magic band mates.

In 2019, she was named as among the seven Pinoy celebrities who invested their showbiz earnings in expansive farms. Many of them, including Kuh, said that work in showbiz is not permanent, which is why they decided to invest in farms. They also advised fellow celebrities to do the same while they are at the height of their fame so when their popularity wanes, they would always have something to lean on.

While Kuh may have made public her political choices in the past, she said she has never campaigned openly for any candidate. According to a post of the pop diva, this is the first time in her several decades of music career to campaign for a candidate. She attended and performed at the grand rally of VP Leni Robredo in General Trias, Cavite, where about 47,000 strong Caviteños came. Drone shots were made available and videos were likewise taken during the event.
