Aiko Melendez, 45, has openly admitted that running for a position in these upcoming elections as an independent candidate can be tough and hard.

On Thursday, November 4, KAMI learned that Aiko recently penned a lengthy online post dedicated to a certain ‘Kapitan’ Ruel Marpa.

According to Aiko, while she is an independent candidate, she is still under the ‘Nacionalista’ party list.

“Mahirap ang aking laban dahil independent candidate ako po pero under Nacionalista po ako. Kaya napakalaking bagay sa akin kapag may mga tulad ni Kapitan Ruel Marpa ang hayagan ang supporta sa akin. Nakakagaan ng loob malaman na parami ng parami ang gusto tumulong sa akin.”

In her post, the actress-turned-politician thanked ‘Kap’ Ruel for the help she received from him as well.

“Salamat kap Ruel. Makakaasa po kayo di ko kayo bibiguin sa pagsuporta niyo para sa akin. Makakasama ko na si Kap Ruel sa malayang pag ikot ko sa barangay Sta. Lucia. Sana dumami pa po ang katulad ni Kap Ruel ang tumulong sa akin. Salamat @vicegov_jaykhonghun malaking bagay ang naitulong mo para sa araw na ito.”

Aiko Melendez is a popular showbiz personality in the Philippines. In 2018, she won the Best Supporting Actress award for the movie, “Rainbow’s Sunset.” In 2001, Aiko ran for councilor in the city elections in Quezon City and won. She became Councilor of the 2nd District of Quezon City and remained in office for 9 years until 2010.

As reported earlier by KAMI, Aiko Melendez took to social media to express her dismay over the viral video of people taking down her tarpaulins. According to Aiko, her tarpaulins around Quezon City are already few which is why she is stunned that all of them are being taken down.

Meanwhile, Aiko Melendez also took to social media to pen a sweet message to her “sister” Katrina Halili. In her viral post, Aiko called the Kapuso actress a “fighter” due to all the trials she faced.
