Mikee Quintos became emotional during a heartfelt conversation on GMA’s Pinoy Big Brother Collab Edition 3.0 as she opened up about a painful memory involving the death of her grandmother, whom she affectionately called Nanay.

During the activity, the actress was asked to identify a day in her life that she wished she could forget. Mikee immediately recalled losing her grandmother three years ago, explaining that Nanay passed away only three days after celebrating her birthday.
She shared that her grandmother spent her final birthday confined to a hospital bed. Despite her condition, Nanay still wore a birthday headband, making the occasion a particularly memorable one for the family.
“The day I want to forget… 3 years ago, I lost my lola. Si Nanay, everyone called her Nanay. We lost her 3 days after her birthday. So she spent her last birthday in her hospital bed. Birthday niya, as in nag-headband pa siyang “Happy Birthday” dun sa hospital… Ng favorite food niya, kahit hindi na niya mahain, kami kumain…”

Although the occasion was meant to celebrate Nanay’s life, Mikee now associates the memory with the sadness of knowing that her grandmother died only a few days later. She explained that the experience remains painful because she never expected their time together to end so soon.
The actress also opened up about a particular decision she made before her grandmother’s passing. She admitted that she left the hospital after dinner because she wanted to watch a basketball game. At the time, she had no reason to believe that she would soon lose Nanay.
Looking back, Mikee said she feels selfish whenever she remembers that day. Her regret comes from thinking about the time she could have spent beside her grandmother instead of leaving the hospital.
“Kaya ko gustong malimutan, whenever maaalala ko yung day na yun, I just feel so selfish. ‘Cause di ko naman in-expect na we’re gonna lose her na in 3 days after that. Nanood ako ng basketball, eh. Umalis ako. After mag-dinner, di ko siya sinamahan. Gusto ko yun kalimutan. Gusto ko siyang i-erase yung memory. I regret na if I have a choice, if I could go back, if I could… hinawakan ko na lang yung kamay niya buong night.”
If given another opportunity, Mikee said she would rather have held her grandmother’s hand throughout the night. Even after three years, the memory of Nanay’s final birthday and the night she chose to leave the hospital remains difficult for her to revisit.
