Joined by their parents, veteran actors Zoren Legaspi and Carmina Villarroel, the twins took part in a conversation with host Vice Ganda that touched on family, parenting, and their approach to accepting people with different identities.
One of the memorable moments came when Vice showed Mavy an edited image of Zoren dressed as a woman. The host playfully asked the young actor how he would react if his parents appeared in public looking like the person in the picture.
“What if ang nanay at tatay niyo naman ang lalabas tapos ganito ang hitsura?” Vice asked.

Mavy appeared unfazed by the image and explained that his parents had raised him and Cassy to be accepting of others. According to him, their upbringing taught them not to judge people based on their orientation or gender expression.
“Wow! Gano’n lang. We were raised in a way na hindi maging homophobic, sexist. So, wala kaming reaction,” Mavy said.
His response emphasized that, in their household, being different was not something that automatically called for criticism or an uncomfortable reaction. Instead, the values taught by their parents encouraged them to approach such situations without prejudice.
The conversation then took a more personal turn when Zoren shared that he had asked Mavy about his gender when his son was around 15 or 16 years old.
“Noong 15 or 16, tinanong ko kasi siya [Mavy]… straight ka ba or hindi? Hindi lang ’yan one time,” Zoren recalled.
The actor explained that his questions were motivated by a desire to understand his son and prepare for whatever support he might need. He wanted Mavy to know that he would not have to hide his identity from his family.
Zoren also delivered the explanation with humor, joking about how the family could make practical preparations depending on Mavy’s answer. His remarks included a playful reference to having him learn sewing so that his skills could be put to use.
“Para alam ko na, so that we can gear up doon sa kung ano ka. Hindi ka naman magtatago. Pag-aaralin ka nila ng [pananahi], mapakikinabangan ka nila agad,” Zoren said, before laughing.

Although Zoren presented the story in a lighthearted manner, his explanation centered on knowing his son better and making sure the family would be ready to support him.
Vice then posed a direct follow-up question to Zoren and Carmina, asking what their reaction would be if Mavy turned out to be gay.
“E ’di isama mo siya,” Carmina and Zoren answered.
The exchange gave viewers a glimpse into the parenting approach of Zoren and Carmina, who have raised their twins in the public eye while maintaining their family life alongside their entertainment careers.
The conversation combined humor with a discussion about family values, allowing the Legaspi family to address a potentially sensitive subject in a relaxed setting. It also highlighted how parents can communicate acceptance by making their children feel that they can speak openly about who they are without fearing rejection.

As previously reported by KAMI, Mavy once surprised his parents after recounting a difficult experience from his first television series. During his appearance on Gandang Gabi Vice, particularly in the program’s “Deep Truth” segment, he recalled an incident when he was only 17 years old. According to his account, a director allegedly reprimanded and embarrassed him while they were on set. The revelation caught Zoren and Carmina by surprise, as Mavy shared details of an experience from his early years in the industry that his parents had not expected to hear in that manner.
In the same episode of Gandang Gabi Vice, Cassy also shared an emotional story about a former close friend. She recalled collapsing in the street while traveling abroad after experiencing extreme heat and stress, an incident that required her to be taken to a hospital for immediate medical attention. Although she and the friend had been traveling together, Cassy said the person did not make an effort to look after her during the ordeal. Zoren later recounted how he and Carmina responded to the situation, explaining that they immediately flew to be with their daughter so they could personally care for her.
