Ruru Madrid embraced his new role as an uncle after his sister, actress Rere Madrid, and her husband, basketball star Kai Sotto, welcomed their first child, baby Atlas.

On Thursday, October 1, Ruru shared a carousel post on Instagram featuring a clip of him cradling his nephew, along with photos of himself and his girlfriend, Bianca Umali, with the newborn. In his caption, Ruru proudly announced that he had officially become an uncle.
"TITO RURU NA AKO!"
He then congratulated Rere and Kai on the arrival of their first child, describing Atlas as a wonderful blessing and expressing how proud he was of his younger sister for becoming a mother.

"Congratulations, Bunso at Bayaw, sa isang napakagandang biyayang ipinagkaloob sa inyo.
Re, sobrang proud ako sa’yo. Mommy ka na! Alam kong hindi naging madali ang lahat, pero look at you now. You did it, Bunso."
Ruru also addressed Kai, acknowledging the challenges of being away from his newborn son and recognizing his brother-in-law’s efforts for his family.
"Bayaw, alam ko rin na hindi madali para sa’yo na mapalayo kay Baby, pero ginagawa mo ito para sa kanila. Saludo ako sa’yo, Bayaw."
He also assured Atlas that he and Bianca would be there to support him as he grows up.
"Nandito lang kami ni Tita Bianca para sa’yo, Baby Atlas. We’ll be here to watch you grow, support you, and love you every step of the way."
Ruru ended his heartfelt message by formally welcoming his nephew to the world and expressing his love for the newborn.

The couple shared the happy news with their followers through Instagram Stories on Tuesday, September 29. Kai posted a photo of Rere lying on a hospital bed and captioned it, "TYL." Rere later shared a heartwarming video showing Kai gently cradling their newborn son in his arms.
In another report, Ruru Madrid revealed that he asked Kai Sotto to return to the Philippines from Japan so they could personally tell their parents about his sister Rere Madrid’s pregnancy. During his appearance on “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on August 4, Ruru recalled speaking with Kai over the phone for about four hours before making the request. Although Kai had a busy basketball schedule and commitments in Japan, he flew back to the Philippines to discuss the news with their family in person. He then returned to Japan the next day, with Ruru expressing his appreciation for Kai’s courage to face the situation personally.
