Vanessa Blanca has passed away at the age of 30, with her cousin Ivy confirming the sad news through a Facebook post on Wednesday, August 19.

According to Ivy, Vanessa died following an accident at the condominium where she was staying in Manila.

She shared the announcement with friends, relatives, and everyone who knew and loved the singer.

“It is with the heaviest heart that I share the heartbreaking news of the passing of my beloved first cousin and little sister,” Ivy wrote.

She identified her cousin by her full name, Vanessa Blanca Quillo Rangadhol, and said she passed away on August 19.

Ivy also expressed how close she was to Vanessa. For her, the singer was more than just a cousin.

“She was not only my cousin, but also someone I cherished and considered my little sister,” she said.

The loss has also been difficult for Vanessa’s immediate family. Ivy shared that the singer was the unica hija, or only daughter, of her mother, Anabella.

Following her passing, the family requested understanding from those who knew Vanessa and followed her career.

They asked friends, relatives, fans, and supporters to give them time, space, and privacy while they grieve.

Ivy ended her post with a short but emotional farewell to her cousin, whom she affectionately called Wani.

“Rest peacefully, my dear Wani. You were deeply loved, and you will forever be remembered and missed,” she wrote.

Details regarding Vanessa’s wake and funeral arrangements are expected to be announced by the family once everything has been finalized.

Vanessa was known to many Filipino listeners as the female singer featured in “DOTA O Ako,” alongside rapper Aikee. The song became one of the memorable OPM tracks associated with the popular online game DOTA.

Before that, she was also part of the singing group Sugarpop. The group included Julie Anne San Jose, Rita Daniela, Enzo Almario, and Cholo Bismonte. They started their careers as young singers and became performers on GMA’s former variety show “SOP.”
