During Rocco’s interview on GMA's “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda” on Friday, August 14, Boy Abunda noted that the Kapuso actor had played mayors several times in teleseryes, including “Bayan Ko,” “First Yaya,” and “Lolong.” This prompted Boy to ask whether there was a possibility that Rocco would eventually enter politics.

Rocco revealed that he had already come close to pursuing the path and had even expressed his interest while exploring it as an option.

“Muntik na Tito Boy. May nagyaya na rin. At nagbigay din po ako ng intensyon, may mga kinausap din po. Bilang options din. Pero pinili ko pa rin po ako ang showbiz.”

When Boy asked what ultimately stopped him from pursuing politics, Rocco explained that he was concerned about the projects he would have to give up. He also considered his responsibilities as a family man in making the decision.

“'Yung dami ng proyekto na mawawala sa akin po. So parang sayang, kasi may pamilya na ako. And maisasantabi muna 'yan.”

Boy then asked whether Rocco's decision meant that the door to politics was still open in the future. Rocco said that, for now, he considers the door closed, while noting that his growing opportunities abroad could open another path for him.

“Sa ngayon po, masasabi ko, sarado po... And for some reason, nabibigyan ako ng mga projects abroad. So, kung mangyari po 'yon, ibang klaseng window na po ang mabubuksan kapag natuloy po 'yon.”

Rocco Nacino is a Filipino actor and Navy reservist, best known for his work with GMA Network. He is married to Melissa Gohing, a former professional volleyball player. The couple got engaged in November 2020 and tied the knot on January 21, 2021. Their wedding was a unique ceremony held aboard the BRP Davao del Sur, a Philippine Navy ship docked at Pier 13 in Manila.

Some months ago, Rocco drew attention online after posting about a ₱31,000 “differential bill” from Meralco on Facebook. He questioned the charge after technicians reportedly arrived over a possible disconnection while the billing concern had yet to be resolved. Meralco eventually contacted the actor to clarify the matter, and Rocco later settled the bill. The incident also led him to consider investing in solar energy after seeing how much he spends on electricity each year.

Last year, Rocco shared his views on government transparency through his social media posts, questioning the public’s limited access to information about ongoing investigations. He pointed out what he saw as the irony of selective disclosure and also echoed concerns raised by Bianca Gonzalez about public frustration over corruption and unequal tax enforcement. The Kapuso actor also pushed for systemic reforms, calling for greater transparency in budget hearings and government spending.
