During his interview on “Kay Susan Tayo! Vlogs,” hosted by Susan Enriquez, Dagul reminisced about some of the young performers he worked with on the comedy show when they were still children. He recalled seeing many of them eventually become prominent stars.
Dagul specifically named Julia Montes, Kathryn Bernardo, Kiray Celis, and Belle Mariano among the former “Goin’ Bulilit” cast members who have since made their mark in show business.
“Ang dami nang mga sumiikat na mga bata. Sino-sino? Si Julia (Montes) ni Direk Coco (Martin), si Kathryn (Bernardo), si Kiray (Celis)... si Belle (Mariano).”

Reflecting on their success, Dagul said he feels genuinely happy whenever he sees how far his former young co-stars have come. He remembered them as children who would spend time together during taping days, running around and playing with one another.
“Tuwang-tuwa ako kasi ‘yung nasa isip ko sabi ko, ‘Yan ang mga bata na ‘yan dati, kasama-kasama ko ‘yan. Biro mo, ‘pag mag-taping kami, takbuhan, laro.”
Dagul noted the contrast between his memories of the former child stars and their current status as established actors. For him, seeing them become successful is particularly meaningful because he personally witnessed them during their early years in the industry.
“Pero ngayon, sikat na sikat na. Kaya tuwang-tuwa ako sa mga ‘yan ‘pag nakikita ko.”

Dagul was discovered by singer and host Randy Santiago, who also gave him the name “Dagul,” a term that commonly refers to someone who is tall or big, in contrast to his short stature. He was previously seen in the comedy sitcom “Kool Ka Lang” and later became a mainstay of the children's sketch comedy show “Goin' Bulilit.”
In the same interview, Dagul opened up about his health following several hospitalizations last year due to pneumonia and sleep apnea. He now uses a wheelchair because of knee problems and difficulty walking, while his kidney is also being monitored. He also revealed that he has a cataract in his left eye, but surgery has been delayed due to pending heart tests, financial concerns, and anesthesia risks. His condition has since improved, and he is currently recovering at home.
A few years ago, Dagul became emotional during an appearance on Bernadette Sembrano’s vlog, where he appealed to producers and fellow artists to support his son, Jkhriez Pastrana, in pursuing a career in showbiz. At the time, Dagul felt that his own career was gradually slowing down and hoped opportunities would come his son’s way. He also shared that it makes him happy when people continue to ask about him and what he has been doing.
