In a touching social media post, the actress reflected on how she and her husband, Mikki Eduardo, had originally hoped to welcome their twins on June 14, the anniversary of the day they first met. Quoting Proverbs 19:21, Bettina began her message by writing, “Many are the plans in a man’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purposes that prevail.”

She explained that they had scheduled the twins’ delivery at 36 weeks on June 14. However, everything changed during what was supposed to be a routine non-stress test (NST) on June 3.

According to Bettina, doctors initially detected a deceleration during the examination, prompting them to repeat the test the following day. Although the second test showed improved results, she unexpectedly experienced her first contraction during the final moments of the procedure.

The actress revealed that she had never experienced contractions before because all of her previous pregnancies had been delivered through Caesarean section.

Following the examination, her obstetrician ordered her immediate admission for observation. Upon arriving at the hospital, Bettina underwent an internal examination, where doctors discovered that she was already one centimeter dilated.

Faced with the unexpected development, Bettina and Mikki made the decision to proceed with the delivery that same evening.

She also recalled that just one day before the emergency, they had finally agreed on names for their twin boys.

“Funny because it was only the day before when we finally decided on their names. Nagjojoke pa kami ‘O pwede na tayo manganak may pangalan na.’ True enough…”

Although she admitted that she initially wanted to reach 36 weeks and deliver on the meaningful date they had chosen, Bettina said she eventually surrendered everything to God.

“I know the Lord prepared my heart for that too—that anytime He may want to deliver our children—who are ultimately His and whose lives are in His hands.”

She explained that despite the emergency Caesarean section and the knowledge that the twins would be born prematurely and require care in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), she found peace by trusting God’s plan.

“Whether 36 or 34, His timing is perfect to carry out His purposes.”

Bettina candidly admitted that she still does not fully understand why the twins had to arrive at 34 weeks.

“Why 34 weeks, Lord? I don’t know. I still don’t know till today. All I am sure of is 1.) God is sovereign and 2.) He is good. So I could rest peacefully not having answers to my why.”
