Because of this, some online users criticized Andrea for seemingly spending time with the senator amid the controversy. A few netizens even remarked that the actress should be tagged as a “person of interest” by authorities due to the viral image.

Following the backlash and speculation, Andrea immediately clarified that the photo was not recent at all and was actually taken several years ago.
“Guys the photo w Bato???? That’s an old photo…. Maybe 3 years ago! It was a memory that showed up and I reposted…. — just riding the issue for the memes! Lol didn’t know that it would blow up! lol,” Andrea explained online.
In another comment responding to the controversy, the actress reiterated that the photo was merely reposted for fun.
“That’s an old photo…. Maybe 3 years ago! I posted this for fun — just riding the issue for the memes. And it worked! Lol,” she added.
Andrea also brought the matter to Facebook, where she reacted humorously to the strong reactions she received from some social media users.
“Person of interest kaagad? Lesson: Pag 3 years old na ang post, dapat wag na nirerepost!” she wrote.
