Joey Marquez made a candid admission during his guest appearance on Fast Talk With Boy Abunda after being asked about his daughter Winwyn Marquez and relationships.

Known for his former image as a playboy in local showbiz, Joey openly acknowledged that he does not want his daughter to end up with a man similar to the person he once was.

During the interview, host Boy Abunda asked Joey if there was ever a time he prayed that Winwyn would never meet someone like him.

“Joey was there a time na nagdasal ka talaga sa Diyos na sana’y — pinatanong ito ah, hindi galing sa akin — hindi makatagpo ng lalaking tulad mo si Winwyn?” Boy asked.

Winwyn then quickly responded with honesty and humor:

“Ako po ang nagdasal n’yan.”

Joey, meanwhile, admitted that he deeply regretted some of his past mistakes and hoped his children would avoid going through similar experiences.

“Simple lang Kuya Boy… lumuhod ako sa bubog. Sabi ko naman, huwag naman sana. I made a mistake, hanggang sa akin na lang,” Joey confessed.

The veteran actor also explained that despite his fears and experiences, he still gives his children the freedom to make their own decisions in life, especially when it comes to relationships.

“I gave them all the freedom eh. Basta’t ang deal ko lang sa kanila, ‘You’re of the right age, and stable, you decide.’ Ako nandoon lang kapag may problema,” he shared.

Joey further emphasized that he prefers guiding his children instead of controlling them, saying he simply lays out the possible consequences and lessons before allowing them to choose for themselves.

“So kapag kailangan n’yo ako, nandoon ako. Pero hangga’t maaari, ibibigay ko sa inyo ang pros and cons, and then, you decide,” he added.
