Wendy Valdez became emotional on social media after opening up about the continuing health struggles of her son Seth, who was born with spina bifida. The former Pinoy Big Brother housemate shared photos of herself staying beside her son at the hospital as he underwent another major surgery at eight years old.

In her lengthy and heartfelt caption, Wendy recalled the difficult beginning of Seth’s journey shortly after his birth.

“When Seth was born, he had a huge cyst on his back and underwent surgery the moment he came out of my womb. Back then, I was still under anesthesia while he was in the operating room, so I never really had the chance to fully feel the weight of it all.”

“Today, at 8 years old, my brave boy is undergoing another surgery that may take around 8 hours. Last night I barely slept. My mom heart feels so heavy.”

Wendy also shared a heartbreaking moment before Seth was brought into surgery. According to her, the young boy repeatedly hugged her and begged her not to leave until he had fallen asleep.

“Before they took him in, he kept hugging me and saying, ‘Don’t leave me until I’m asleep.’ That moment broke me.”

Wendy said she stayed by Seth’s side until he slowly drifted to sleep before finally entrusting him to the doctors and to God through prayer.

“I stayed beside him until I saw his eyes slowly close to sleep. Then I prayed with the team and knew I had to leave him in God’s hands.”

Despite the fear and uncertainty, Wendy expressed strong faith that their family would once again overcome the difficult situation.

“We have already seen God carry us through impossible moments before, and I know God is still sovereign over this one. He has never left our side.”

The actress ended her post by humbly asking supporters and followers to include Seth in their prayers.

“If you could whisper a prayer for our little boy today, our family would deeply appreciate it.”

Spina bifida is a congenital condition affecting the spine and nervous system. Depending on the severity, children diagnosed with the condition may require surgeries, therapy, and lifelong medical care.

Through the years, Wendy has remained transparent about Seth’s medical journey, using her platform to spread awareness while inspiring other families facing similar struggles.

Although she finished as third placer in the competition, Wendy quickly received numerous projects and opportunities, particularly from ABS-CBN. She eventually landed the lead role in the teleserye Margarita and was also previously linked romantically to Bruce Quebral.

In a report years ago, Wendy Valdez previously gave updates about Seth’s condition as a child living with spina bifida. According to reports, Wendy posted four lengthy Instagram entries that inspired many netizens. In the first two posts dated April 13, she emotionally revealed how devastated she felt after learning that Seth needed to wear a Pavlik harness for several months because of hip dysplasia.

In another previous report, Wendy opened up about the challenges she experienced as a first-time mother during a guest appearance on Magandang Buhay. She revealed that she suffered a miscarriage during her first pregnancy with her husband, Norman Garcia. When she became pregnant again, doctors informed her that baby Seth had spina bifida. Wendy later underwent a cesarean section because the swelling on Seth’s back could burst during normal delivery, which doctors warned might result in cerebral palsy, autism, or brain damage.
