BINI cites reason behind Maloi’s absence from April 12 Coachella commitments

P-pop sensation BINI has announced that Maloi Ricalde will be unable to participate in the group’s scheduled Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival commitments on April 12 (U.S. time).

The group issued an official advisory to inform fans of the sudden change in the lineup for the day’s events. The statement confirmed the singer's absence due to health reasons, noting, “Maloi will not be able to join any of the scheduled activities of BINI today (April 12) as she is not feeling well.”

In the meantime, the rest of the “nation’s girl group”—Aiah Arceta, Jhoanna Robles, Mikha Lim, Colet Vergara, Sheena Catacutan, Gwen Apuli, and Stacey Sevilleja—will continue to represent the group across their various Coachella engagements.

While Maloi focuses on her recovery, management encouraged the “Blooms” fanbase to remain supportive of the other seven members during their performance window. “Let's continue to cheer for the rest of the BINI members, as they fulfill their other Coachella commitments,” the advisory concluded.

BINI recently marked a historic milestone as the first Filipina and P-pop girl group to perform at Coachella, further cementing their growing influence on the international stage. During their debut performance, the group delivered a 10-song set that showcased their signature energy and Filipino pride. The lineup included fan-favorite tracks such as Karera and Salamin, Salamin, before culminating in their global hit Pantropiko.

Their performance was widely praised for its vibrant staging and cultural representation, highlighting the Philippines’ presence in the global pop scene.

BINI is scheduled to return for the second weekend of Coachella on April 17 (April 18 in the Philippines), where fans are expected to once again witness their dynamic stage presence.

BINI is an all-girl Pinoy pop group formed by ABS-CBN Star Hunt Academy. In November 2020, they released their pre-debut single “Da Coconut Nut.”

Previously, BINI leader Jhoanna Robles shared that she felt overwhelming emotions ahead of the group’s Coachella debut. The group made history as the first OPM act to perform at the globally influential Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. Their set was scheduled to run for 42 minutes and included their new single “Blush” as part of the lineup. The members emphasized their sense of responsibility in representing Filipino culture on an international stage.

Meanwhile, Chariz Solomon commended BINI for their Coachella performance despite not identifying as a fan. She pointed out the group’s dedication, bravery, and behind-the-scenes sacrifices.
