Singer Wency Cornejo revealed a shocking health scare after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery, sharing that he briefly stopped breathing while under anesthesia.

In a social media post, Wency uploaded a photo taken inside the operating room with his medical team and opened up about the life-threatening moment that occurred during the procedure.

According to the singer, the realization of how serious the situation was only hit him days after the operation. He expressed deep gratitude to his anesthesiologist for acting quickly and to the rest of the medical team who ensured his safety throughout the surgery.

“Ngayon pa lang nag si-sink in that I could’ve died the other day when I had my arthroscopic knee surgery. My anesthesiologist said I stopped breathing while under and he had to pump me with oxygen. Medyo surreal ang feeling. Thank you Doc Andro for keeping me alive. Doctors faces covered for privacy reasons,” he wrote.

The post quickly drew reactions from fans who were relieved to learn that the OPM icon is now recovering and in stable condition.

Wency Cornejo is best known as the original lead vocalist of the iconic OPM band After Image, the group behind timeless hits such as Habang May Buhay, Next in Line, Mangarap Ka, and Bai. His distinctive voice helped define the sound of 1990s Filipino pop-rock, making him one of the most recognizable frontmen of his generation. Beyond music, he also ventured into acting and television, appearing in films and teleseryes over the years. Wency comes from a showbiz family—his mother is veteran newscaster Mel Tiangco.
