Nic Chien addressed rumors surrounding his parents Lea Salonga and Robert Chien’s separation during a candid guest appearance on Rated Korina, where he spoke openly with host Korina Sanchez about their family dynamics.

The trans son of theater icon Lea Salonga set the record straight, explaining that the split was not caused by betrayal or conflict but simply a change in their romantic relationship. Furthermore, Lea and Robert are still friends who love their child very much.

“My parents are on very good terms. My dad never cheated on my mom, number one. My parents are still friends, number two. And they love each other, but they don’t love each other romantically. They care about each other very much, and they both love me very much,” Nic said, emphasizing that respect and love remain between his parents.

He added that both of them are free to move forward and pursue happiness in their own ways. “They can both pursue relationships and it’s totally fine with me. My dad is with another woman, a very lovely woman. She’s my stepmother and I love her very much. It doesn’t mean that I’m betraying my mom. I love my mom more because she’s my biological mom,” he explain

He began testosterone therapy in March 2025 and described the experience as transformative, while acknowledging that it may not be the right path for everyone. His mother Lea Salonga has given her full support and love to Nic amid his transition.
