Nic Chien, the trans son of award-winning theater star Lea Salonga, opened up on Rated Korina about his personal journey with gender identity and sexuality in a recent interview. Speaking honestly about his teenage years, Nic shared how he dealt with gender dysphoria and feelings of insecurity, especially when others saw him as someone he did not identify with.

During his guesting on Rated Korina, Nic talked about how difficult it was when people failed to see him the way he saw himself. “I was insecure in a sense that I knew that if someone looked at me, they wouldn’t see what I really wanted to be or they wouldn’t see a man; they would see a girl. I think that idea was so tragic in my mind,” he shared, describing how deeply that disconnect affected him.
Nic also revealed that he eventually came to understand more about who he is attracted to. “I’m okay with saying that out loud. I’m attracted to my friends who are girls, but I’m also attracted to guys,” he said, adding that embracing this truth helped him feel more secure and authentic.

By speaking openly, Nic hopes to help others who may be going through similar experiences feel less alone, showing that self-acceptance can take time but is ultimately freeing.
