Actress Claudine Barretto is grieving the loss of her mother, Estrella Castelo Barretto, who passed away today, January 29, at the age of 89. The actress took to social media to share emotional clips from St. Luke’s Medical Center, where she was seen comforting and talking to her mom during her final days.

In the videos, Claudine appeared visibly emotional as she stayed close to Estrella’s bedside, holding her and speaking softly to reassure her.
Alongside the clips, she wrote a heartfelt message: “Oh mom, Estrella Castelo Barretto January 29, 2026… Mommy, we’re gonna be okay, I promise!”

Hours earlier, Claudine’s brother Joaquin Barretto confirmed the heartbreaking news. He posted a photo of a lit candle and penned a short but painful farewell message: “Rest in peace mom, I love you.” The post quickly drew messages of sympathy and condolences from followers and friends in and out of showbiz.
Before confirming her passing, Joaquin had been updating the public about their mother’s condition. In an earlier post, he shared photos of Estrella, fondly called “Inday,” while she was confined in the hospital. He revealed she was scheduled to be transferred to the ICU and admitted that her condition was serious. He also posted images of family members, including Claudine, staying by her side during the difficult time.
Estrella’s passing came not long after her last public appearance on Ogie Diaz Inspires. During the interview, she spoke openly about her life, her journey as a mother, and her relationship with her children.
