The cast of the upcoming family drama Rekonek shared their honest thoughts on Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) Secretary Cristina Aldeguer-Roque’s remark that a family of four can prepare a noche buena meal with just P500. During the movie’s media conference, Gloria Diaz, Carmina Villarroel, and Charlie Dizon each gave their take on the controversial statement.

“Of course, pwede. And by the way, Cris is a good friend of mine. She showed me all of DTI’s [meal plan] for P500. You can have corned beef, fruit salad, you can have pineapple juice na dinadagdagan ng maraming yelo and you can eat pansit,” she shared.
Carmina Villarroel had a different view. She explained that the budget depends on the size of the family and the kind of dishes they want to prepare but that realistically, it would be very challenging to do these days.

“Hindi talaga. Sorry ha. I think it really depends sa pamilya kung gaano kalaki ‘yung pamilya at kung ano ang gustong ihain sa noche buena,” she said. “Pero kung talagang pagkakasyahin at kung wala talagang choice, feeling ko naman kasya… Tayong mga Pinoy maabilidad. Gagawan natin ng paraan. Pero realistically, for me, challenging at hindi na talaga kasya yung P500. Maybe noong 1993, kasya,” she added.
Her husband Zoren Legaspi added that Noche Buena is supposed to be a feast that happens once a year.
Charlie Dizon also disagreed and said even a day’s worth of meals is already hard to fit into P500.
“Honestly, hindi kasya ‘yung P500. Kasi sa totoo lang, sa isang araw ang hirap nang pagkasyahin ‘yung P500. Kahit sa dalawang tao, ang hirap nang pagkasyahin na makapuno ka ng tatlong meal in a day,” she shared. “Tulad ng sinabi nila, ang noche buena ay gathering, d’un na nga lang kayo magsasama, at least sana enough food sa lahat,” she added.
Charlie Dizon is a Filipino actress who appears in movies and TV shows. She became well-known after her lead role in the 2020 film Fan Girl with Paulo Avelino, a performance that won her Best Actress at the 2020 MMFF. In 2023, she made news when she confirmed her relationship with actor Carlo Aquino, and the two later got married in 2024.
Earlier, Charlie shared in an interview with Metro.Style how Carlo surprised her with a proposal. She said she didn’t expect it at all because they had not even been together for a full year. Carlo proposed during their trip to the Songkran Festival in Thailand.
Previously, Charlie posted photos of her new haircut on Instagram. She shared several pictures and mentioned the salon that styled her hair. Her post quickly went viral and received many positive comments from fans.
