Actor Oyo Sotto opened up about one of the darkest periods of his life, sharing that he once lost all his savings due to substance abuse and destructive habits before marrying his wife, Kristine Hermosa. In a recent episode of House of D, the YouTube talk show featuring Oyo, Kristine, his mother Dina Bonnevie, his sister Danica Sotto, and Marc Pingris, Oyo spoke candidly about how his life spiraled out of control when he was younger.

According to Oyo, he became “corrupted” and fell into a lifestyle marked by drinking, illegal substance, womanizing, lying, and other vices. His wake-up call came when he discovered that all his money was gone. “Tinignan ko ’yung ATM ko, P2,000. Sa kakainom, sa kakabili ng droga, ’yung mga ganoon, naubos ’yun. Binenta ko lahat. Binenta ko lahat ng sasakyan, doon ako natuto,” he shared. He added that the downfall forced him to hit rock bottom: “Kailangan kong madapa ng sobra sobra. Kinailangan kong humampas ’yung mukha ko sa putik bago ko ma-realize na hindi ko pala kaya ’to.”

Oyo also revealed that he went two years without a job during this difficult chapter. He said that his life only began to change when he found faith and built a personal relationship with Jesus. “Pero when I met Jesus, noong nagkaron ako relasyon sa kaniya, doon naayos ’yung buhay ko. Paano? Repentance…” he said, emphasizing that turning away from his old life was the key to rebuilding himself.
