Jeremiah band vocalist Piwee Polintan has passed away, his bandmates announced in a Facebook post published on Tuesday, October 28. He was known as the voice behind some of the most memorable OPM love songs of the late 1990s and early 2000s.

In a statement released on the official Jeremiah Facebook page, the group expressed their grief over the loss of their frontman and friend.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Piwee Polintan, beloved vocalist of the band Jeremiah,” the band emotionally revealed.

The group then paid tribute to Piwee’s impact on music and on the lives of those who knew him.

“Piwee was an exceptional artist whose voice and passion touched the hearts of many. Beyond his music, he was a cherished friend, a loving soul, and a brother to us all. His legacy will live on through the songs and memories he shared with the world.”

Although the post did not disclose the exact cause of death, the band had previously revealed that Piwee suffered a stroke and had been dealing with health challenges.

They also extended their gratitude to those who supported the singer and his family during his illness.

“We extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who offered prayers, support, and love during his time of illness. Please continue to keep his family and loved ones in your thoughts and prayers.”

The message concluded with a heartfelt farewell to their longtime bandmate:
“May his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Details about Piwee’s wake and funeral arrangements have yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, tributes have begun pouring in online from supporters, fellow musicians, and fans who grew up listening to Jeremiah’s music.

Piwee rose to fame as the lead vocalist of Jeremiah, a Filipino pop ballad group widely remembered for their emotional love songs and rich harmonies. The band became popular in the late 1990s and early 2000s with hits such as “Nanghihinayang,” “Bakit Ka Iiyak,” and “Oh Babe” —songs that continue to resonate with OPM fans today.

Aside from Piwee, there are other local personalities who passed away recently.

Gloria “Loly” Mara passed away at the age of 86, her family announced in a Facebook post on October 18. In their statement, her family expressed deep sorrow and described her as a loving and compassionate woman who touched many lives.

OPM singer Louie Reyes, one of the original members of The New Minstrels, passed away on October 25, her family confirmed in a statement to ABS-CBN News. GMA News reported that the family has yet to reveal the cause of death. Tributes and messages of sympathy filled social media, including posts from fellow singer Ivy Violan, while Reyes’ husband Cesar dela Fuente shared his grief in the comments section of a tribute post.
