On Tuesday, September 23, the comedian posted on Facebook that he is about to undergo chemotherapy and radiation at Asian Hospital in Muntinlupa. He said that the treatment will be free, made possible through the generosity of someone he described as an “angel.”

“Magandang balita po magpapachemo at radiation na po ako sa Asian Hospital ng Libre sa tulong ng isang Anghel …” Ate Gay wrote, breaking the news to his followers with a sense of relief and gratitude.

He continued his post by acknowledging the overwhelming number of messages he has received since opening up about his condition. “Nagpapasalamat po ako sa inyong mga mensahe.. di ko man mareplyan taos-puso akong nagpapasalamat sa sobrang dami.. patuloy lang po ang panalangin,” he added, assuring everyone that their encouragement and prayers mean a lot to him, even if he cannot respond to each one personally.

Ate Gay also made a simple request to his supporters as he prepares for his upcoming treatment.

“P.s. Baka po may nirerentahan kayo condo o apartment na malapit sa asian hospital gusto ko po manatili ng 35days na gamutan.. maraming salamat po,” he shared, appealing for help in finding a temporary place to stay close to the hospital during the 35-day course of his therapy.
