His message comes at a time when citizens have been expressing outrage over alleged misuse of funds and lack of proper oversight in government projects.

Matteo began his post by emphasizing the importance of transparency, which he described as openness and visibility in decisions, budgets, projects, and actions made by those in power.

This is about openness, making sure decisions, budgets, projects, and actions by those in power are visible to the public. When there’s transparency:

• Corruption is harder to hide.

• Citizens are empowered to ask questions.

• Trust in government grows.

In simple terms: if the public can see what’s happening, it’s harder for bad things to be done in the dark.”

He followed this by stressing the need for accountability, noting that leaders should face real consequences when they commit wrongdoing. Matteo highlighted that it is not enough to simply identify corruption—authorities must ensure that justice is served.
