”My children are happy about sleeping late tonight because they don’t have school tomorrow,” Jennica shared. “We do Bible study every night before going to bed, but on Sundays, I encourage them to pick a different book since we’ve already come from church.”
That evening, Alessi chose The Three Little Pigs. “I really loved that choice because it immediately reminded me of a similar story in the Bible: Matthew 7:24–28, which can be our topic for tomorrow!” Jennica said.
Jennica explained that this parable illustrates the importance of not only reading or hearing God’s Word but applying it in daily life so that when challenges arise, one stands firm—much like the third little pig’s cement-based house. She wrote, “To make the Bible story easy to understand, we can tell our kids that Jesus wants us to listen to what He teaches. We can do that by reading our Bibles. The Bible teaches us, as children of God, to be kind, to forgive others, and to have a heart that trusts God. When we live this way, our lives become strong, like a house built on solid cement, like a rock! Just like the third little pig’s house.”
She also connected the wolf in the story to Christian teaching. “When difficulties come, or when the enemy (Satan/Wolf) tries to attack, we are prepared, not just because we study the Word, but because we apply it in our everyday lives.”
To close, Jennica emphasized prayer and growth in faith. “We can then end with prayer and thanksgiving, asking the Lord to equip us as we put into action what we’ve learned, and not just hear or read about it. A true Christian who builds their house on the rock is one who bears good fruit. That’s a great place to pause and then introduce the Fruit of the Holy Spirit as our next topic for the following nights! Goodnight, Parents!”
