Kitchie Nadal reveals reason behind her relocation to Spain

OPM rock icon Kitchie Nadal, in an interview with Boy Abunda, candidly opened up about a major life decision she made in 2017—stepping away from the limelight and moving to Spain.

On Monday’s episode of “Fast Talk with Boy Abunda,” the prominent musician Kitchie revealed that she relocated to Madrid for love and to build a fulfilling family life with her Spanish husband, Carlos Lopez. The two met while volunteering during the aftermath of Typhoon Yolanda, and their connection quickly blossomed.

“Love. Of course, love,” Kitchie said. “I married a Spanish guy. Nagkakilala kami during Yolanda. We were both volunteers. And then ‘yon, ang bilis na-develop.”

“He decided to stay and then we got to know each other more. And we got married. We had a baby. When we had a baby, we decided to move to Spain,” she shared.

She also spoke warmly of how fulfilling it has been to focus on her family life in Madrid.

“I’m really happy. Kasi iba ang lifestyle doon eh. I was able to focus on my family, hands-on with the kids like everyone. Ang dami kong natutunan doon—house chores, lahat, multi-tasking,” she said. “I really love how I was able to focus on them.”

Despite stepping away from the mainstream music scene, the singer stayed connected to her passion by holding small, ìntìmate gigs for Filipino communities in Spain.

“Syempre mas maliit siya, but for me fun nga siya kasi parang ang ìntìmate. And then parang feeling ko ang meaningful ng dating kasi you get to unite the Filipinos there,” she said.

When asked about the possibility of returning to the Philippines, the singer remained open-minded: “Anything is possible. We’re open to anything.”

Kitchie Nadal is considered as one of the most popular rock singers of the 90s and early 2000s. Her hits include "Same Ground" and "Huwag na Huwag." Among her counterparts include Imago, Barbie Almalbis, and a lot more.

She tied the knot in 2015 and gave birth to her first child two years later. The singer and her beautiful family are now living a peaceful life in Spain. She woudl often take to Instagram and post photos and clips of her life with her family.

The OPM singer also took to social media and shared the apartment that her family had in Madrid, Spain. While her husband was in France, she took the opportunity to show fans, friends and family, the kind of life that they have in the foreign country. She also shared the kind of things that keep her busy at home. Kitchie also rendered a Christmas song for her fans at the time.
