Jessica, who rose to fame as the runner-up on American Idol Season 11, opened up in her pre-performance interview about her journey and rediscovery of her passion for music. “I was really young and I was so swayed by what everybody wanted me to be, who they wanted me to be,” she said. “Maybe it took me 20 years but I know exactly who I am, I know exactly what I want. I’m excited to be back.”
Adding to the emotional weight of her return, Jessica revealed that she is now married and recently found out she’s expecting her first child. Her performance, backed by a live band, was a triumphant moment of both musical mastery and personal growth.
Sofia Vergara, moved by the performance, praised Jessica saying, “This was a special moment and I think that you deserve this,” before pressing the Golden Buzzer. Confetti rained down as the two shared a heartfelt hug onstage, with Jessica in tears.
The Golden Buzzer sends Jessica straight to the live shows, bypassing any further audition rounds. Her return has already captured the hearts of fans around the world, with many calling it one of the most memorable moments of the season.
Aside from Jessica Sanchez, another Filipino singer who made waves in the international competition scene was Sofronio Vasquez, a Filipino singer who became famous after being declared the champion of The Voice Season 26 in America. Prior to this, he participated in local singing competitions in the Philippines such as Tawag ng Tanghalan and The Voice Philippines.
In a previous report by KAMI, Sofronio Vasquez’s win at the Season 26 of The Voice is also the first win of Michael Bublé as a coach of the singing contest. Sofronio bested four other finalists from Team Bublé, Team Reba, Team Snoop, and Team Gwen. He grew up in the Philippines but transferred to the United States in the year 2022 to try to bring realization to his dream in music. In a statement, Sofronio gave tribute to his late father, whom he said taught him to love music.
In another viral news related to Sofronio Vasquez, he reposted a clip from Tawag ng Tanghalan, at the time that he received advice from Rey Valera. Actress and award-winning singer Lea Salonga also congratulated Sofronio. It can be recalled that Sofronio did not receive any chair turn when he joined The Voice Philippines. He also did not make it as a champ in Tawag ng Tanghalan.
