Actress Lotlot De Leon took to Instagram to express her gratitude and pride following the posthumous awarding of the Presidential Medal of Merit to her late mother, National Artist Nora Aunor.

The ceremony was led by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. at Malacañang, with the presence of First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos. Some of Nora’s children, including Ian De Leon and Matet De Leon, were seen in the official RTVM broadcast accepting the award on her behalf.
In her heartfelt post, Lotlot wrote: “Yesterday, our beloved National Artist, our mother, Ms. Nora Aunor, was once again given a prestigious honor—posthumously awarded the Presidential Medal of Merit by President Ferdinand ‘Bongbong’ Marcos Jr., with the gracious presence and support of First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos. Our hearts are full.”
Lotlot went on to reflect on the significance of the award:

She also extended the family’s thanks to the President and First Lady, writing:

Closing her tribute, Lotlot honored her mother with the words “Mommy our Superstar, our National Artist, ang Ina ng Sining ng Industria ng Pilipino, thank you for everything. This honor is yet another shining jewel in the crown of your lifelong dedication to Philippine arts and culture. Again, to our President Bong Bong Marcos Jr. and to our First Lady Liza Araneta Marcos, maraming maraming salamat po! Nora Aunor was a celebrated Filipino actress, singer, and producer. Known as the 'Superstar of Philippine cinema, she has earned critical acclaim for her powerful performances in films such as Himala, Bona, and The Flor Contemplacion Story. Her contributions to the arts were recognized in 2022 when she was named National Artist for Film and Broadcast Arts. In 1975, Nora married fellow actor Christopher de Leon. They have one biological son, Ian de Leon, and adopted four children: Lotlot, Matet, Kiko, and Kenneth de Leon.

She mentioned that Vilma Santos and Esperanza "Espie" Fabon were her "chum girls." She also shared that she dislikes arrogant people. She named Nancy Wilson, Dionne Warwick, and Barbra Streisand as her favorite singers.
Meanwhile, Nora Aunor shared the story of how she lost her powerful and striking voice. She said she simply woke up one day only to find out that she could no longer sing. She admitted that it was a painful experience for her, as she used to love singing more than acting back then. Unfortunately, her once-powerful voice could never be restored.
