Erik Santos sadly announced on his Instagram account that his father, Renato Aquino Santos, has passed away.

According to Erik, his dad died at the age of 71 last August 10. The singer’s father was born on November 12, 1952.

Aside from posting a photo of his dad, Erik also shared a quote from the 2nd letter of Paul to Timothy about fighting the good fight, finishing the race, and keeping the faith.

Renato’s death came just eight months after Erik’s mother, Angelita Ramos Santos, died at the age of 66 due to cancer.

Erik Santos is one of the most acclaimed and lauded singers in the Philippines. He was hailed as the first Grand Champion of the ABS-CBN singing competition Star in a Million Season 1 in 2003. His hit songs include "Kulang Ako Kung Wala Ka" and "Pagbigyang Muli."

In a previous report, Erik turned a year older and his loved ones prepared a surprise birthday party for him. The singer then posted on social media a couple of videos giving glimpses of the elegant birthday bash. As can be seen in the videos captured by Nice Print Photography, Erik became emotional over the said surprise. Also spotted at the party are his celebrity friends like Robi Domingo, Darren Espanto, AC Bonifacio, Kyla Alvarez, Jolina Magdangal, Vina Morales, and KZ Tandingan.

Erik was also present during the Christening of Angeline Quinto's baby. Aside from Erik, the cozy gathering was also attended by other celebrities like Vice Ganda. Some of the bosses of ABS-CBN were present too, just like Cory Vidanes. Richard Yap was also present at the event and even shared a few photos.
