Newly-elected Senator Pia Cayetano has given bamboo tumblers to her colleagues in the Senate on Monday.
KAMI learned from the Philippine Star that Cayetano urged the Senate to reduce their plastic waste and refrain from using plastic bottles during Senate sessions and hearings.

The gesture of Cayetano was in time for the “#PlasticFreeJuly.”
Meanwhile, Sen. Nancy Binay took her gratitude for Cayetano to social media.
“Thank you Senator Pia Cayetano for the bamboo tumbler. Let's all do our part in reducing the Senate's plastic waste! #PlasticFreeJuly,” Binay wrote.

Earlier, Cayetano filed a bill seeking to integrate bicycles as a mode of transportation. As a fitness enthusiast, Cayetano would also like to create traffic measures that would make bicycle-riding easier and safer.
Pilar Juliana "Pia" Schramm Cayetano has sought for a seat in the Senate once again during the May 2019 polls, after serving as the representative of the 2nd district of Taguig City.
