The Filipino-Korean film “Sunshine Family” is an adaptation of the 1992 Japanese movie “The Hit-And-Run Family.”

KAMI was given the opportunity to attend its premiere night and witness the film right before it hits the cinemas nationwide today, June 5.

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of Spring Films, the company gives a new and exciting film to the Filipinos with the cinema technical expertise of Koreans, most especially Director Kim Tai Sik, and the heart-warming storytelling and acting of Filipino actors.

Sunshine Family is about a Filipino family living in South Korea. The film stars Sue Ramirez, Marco Masa, real-life couple Nonie and Shamaine Buencamino, with K-pop idol Shinwoo of Blanc7.

The story is about a family who is excited to find their way home to the Philippines, until the father (Nonie Buencamino), got involved in a hit-and-run accident. They all found a way to keep their family intact to solve the problem.

Sunshine Family is a must-watch for Filipino families, most especially to all the K-pop and K-drama fans in the Philippines. Here are 5 reasons why you should catch it in the cinemas now:

1. A fusion of two cultures

The story emphasizes the cultures of Koreans and Filipinos. From relationships with families, neighbors, friends, food, and places. Despite being shot in Korea, the culture and traditions of Filipinos are evident. It also showed the two similarities of Koreans and Filipinos, love for family and sense of humor.

The Pinoy actors also learned how to speak in Korean!

2. Love for family

The main highlight of the film is the close family ties of the Filipinos and even Koreans. There is no hiding of the fact that no matter what problems or disagreements Filipino family members may have, it will all boil down to solving it together as a family.

3. See the beauty of Korea

The entire film was shot in Seoul and Yangpyeong County, South Korea. The film gives a free tour of the different iconic and beautiful places in Korea.

4. Tackling different social issues

Aside from showing family’s love, the film also addressed different social issues that are being talked about in the Philippines through the years.

5. Lots of surprises!

Sunshine Family is not a typical family drama film. It gives you different kinds of emotions and thoughts that will let you realize your parents’ or children’s struggles in the family.
