Chel Diokno slams Pres. Duterte for comparing him to Freddie Aguilar

Human rights lawyer and Senatorial aspirant Chel Diokno has commented over the remark of President Rodrigo Duterte. KAMI learned that Diokno would concede with folk singer Freddie Aguilar.
In a report by the ABS-CBN News (author Katrina Domingo), President Duterte said that Aguilar deserves a seat in the Senate for contributing a lot in the Philippine music industry. The President also questioned the achievements and contributions of Diokno to the country.
To answer President Duterte’s remark, Diokno said that Aguilar could be a great singer, but the Senate is not a “karaoke bar”.
“Ang problema, ang Senado naman ay gagawa tayo ng batas doon at dapat siguro malaman ng taumbayan kung sino sa amin at kung sino sa mga kandidato ang talagang may kakayahan gumawa ng mga batas,” Diokno said, as reported by the Inquirer (author Pathricia Ann V. Roxas).
“Kaya maganda sana iharap nya si Freddie Aguilar magkaroon tayo ng debate, o kahit sino pa ang gusto nila sa kanilang slate, handang handa ko makipagdebate kahit saan, kahit kailan,” he added.

In addition, Diokno also challenged Aguilar and all of the administration’s slate to join him in public debates so that Filipinos could really see who deserve to become a senator.
In a previous report by KAMI, President Duterte slammed the opposition coalition, Otso Diretso. The President also criticized all of its members, including Diokno.
