Ex-beauty queen, pumanaw matapos ng isang minor surgery sa ospital sa Batangas
- A former beauty queen named Mary Grace Villanueva died this month at the age of 27
- She passed away just days after undergoing a minor procedure on her sinus
- Her mother is now requesting for an autopsy to determine what happened to her child

Miss Calaca 2007 Mary Grace Villanueva passed away at the age of 27 on January 15.
Her death happened just three days after undergoing a minor surgery on her sinus at the Our Lady of Caysasay Medical Center in Lemery, Batangas, according to the Manila Bulletin.
Although her family was told to have Mary Grace buried, her mother Flaviana Villanueva requested for an autopsy first.
“Gusto ko po sana ma-autopsy muna bago ilibing, willing naman po kami maghintay, baka naman po hindi aabutin ng isang buwan yun, kahit nga huwag na siyang alisin diyan,” Flaviana told Manila Bulletin.
She added that Mary Grace underwent the supposedly minor operation to relieve her of sinusitis.
But when the operation was over, Mary Grace’s face got bloated, her tonsil swollen, there was extreme pain on her throat, and she had difficulty in breathing.
She passed away in the Intensive Care Unit of the hospital.

Based on her death certificate, the former beauty queen died of cardiac arrest, acute respiratory distress syndrome, and maxillary mucocele.
“Napakarami kong mamimiss sa bunso ko, hindi ko alam kung paano ako makakamove on napakarami pa niyang pangarap lalo na sa kaniyang anak, kitang kita ko paano siya namatay wala ako nagawa dahil ang pag-asa ko eh gagaling siya, the grieving mom said.
