Vice President Leni Robredo tells the story of children’s book ‘Digong Dilaw’ to the pupils of Barangay 58 Day Care Center in Tondo. KAMI learned that Robredo picked this book because of its irony and the lessons that children could get from the story as reported by GMA News.
“Nung first time ko nakita iyon, naaliw ako kasi, parang, iyong irony. Saka 'yung representation,” Robredo stated.
“Maganda iyong kuwento. Napakalaki nung aral para sa mga bata,” she added.
‘Digong Dilaw’ was written by national artist Virgilio Almario and was illustrated by Nelson Cabrega. It was published by Adarna House in 2003. It depicts the story of a little boy named Digo who only loves color yellow. One day he wakes up with a power that could turn everything into yellow in a monochromatic world. In the end, he realized it was just a dream and then he started appreciating other colors other than yellow.

The book is ironic, indeed. President Rodrigo Duterte’s nickname is ‘Digong’ and it is no secret that he condemns the yellows or ‘dilawan’ comprised of Liberal Party spearheaded by VP Robredo.
In a report by KAMI before, the President accused the Liberal Party members for teaming up with the communists and rebels to oust him from the Palace. The Armed Forces of the Philippines even name-dropped VP Robredo and Senator Antonio Trillanes as part of the ‘Red October’ plan.
