Senator Antonio Trillanes IV was named as the “most productive” senator during the 15th and 16th Congress despite his low record in attendance .

KAMI has learned from the senator’s official website that all in all, Trillanes was able to file 1,434 bills and resolutions. And, 78 of these were passed into law.

As of June 2018, ABS-CBN News has reported that Senator Trillanes has filed the most bills during the 17th Congress. He has filed 232 bills and then co-authored 24 proposals. He was then followed by Senator JV Ejercito and Senator Ralph Recto.

Here are the top 5 notable bills and resolution passed into law by Sen. Trillanes:

1. Anti-Bullying Act of 2013 (RA 10627)

Trillanes was one of the principal authors of this act. As mandated by law, ‘bullying’ is prohibited among elementary and secondary schools and there should be anti-bullying policies that must be regulated.

2. Expanded Senior Citizens Act (RA 9994)

The opposition senator was one of the co-authors of this law. Whereas, it has stated to add more benefits and privileges to maximize the important role of senior citizens in nation building. This includes additional government assistance like mandatory PhilHealth coverage.

3. Magna Carta for Disabled Persons (RA 10070)

As an amendment to Magna Carta for Disabled Persons (RA 7277), Trillanes co-authored the RA 10070. This states that national agencies and local government units shall promote the establishment of organizations of persons with disabilities (PWD). As well as to expose them to more livelihood programs as well as enhance their health.

4. Salary Standardization Law 3 (Congressional Joint Resolution No. 4)

Trillanes co-authored the Joint Resolution No. 4 where it authorizes the President of the Philippines to ‘modify the compensation and position classification system of civilian personnel’ as well as ‘the base pay schedule of military and uniformed personnel in the government’.

5. Revised AFP Modernization Act (RA 10349)

This law amends the AFP Modernization Act (RA 7898). Trillanes as one of the principal authors, the law aims to develop the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) as well as their human resources. It also states that the law will enhance AFP’s performance to be a ‘multi-mission oriented force’ in order to effectively address the threats against the country.
