Aya Medel, known in the ‘90s as the “Papaya Queen,” has disappeared from Philippine showbiz.
KAMI learned from GMA Entertainment that the former actress – who appeared in movies such as “Asong Ulol,” “Totoy Mola,” “Molata,” “Padre Kalibre” and “Babae sa Bubungang Lata” – was able to completely transform her life for the better.
After showbiz, Aya took up culinary arts under Chef Gene Gonzales.
She then became a sous chef at Intercontinental Tokyo.
The former actress then opened her own business called IshiAya Garden, which is a restaurant that serves Filipino and Japanese food in Tabaco, Albay.
Aya also opened another food business in Legazpi.
Aside from her successful career, Aya is also focused as a mother to two children – 14-year-old Shania Ishi and 1-year-old Simon Grey.
Although her marriage to Japanese businessman Yoji Hayakawa has been divorced, she is still good friends with him.
The inspiring lady is also a health advocate and a community helper in Albay.
