There are Filipina celebrities who have the desire to share their beauty and intelligence with the world. Some of them do so by joining beauty pageants.

KAMI learned from GMA Entertainment about these Pinay showbiz personalities who later on became beauty queens.

1. Ruffa Gutierrez

Ruffa started as a model at a young age before becoming an actress in the 80s. In 1993, Ruffa won Binibining Pilipinas-World and became the second runner-up in the 1993 Miss World pageant.

2. Joanne Quintas

Joanne became a model at 12 and appeared in movies in 1994. In 1995, she won Binibining Pilipinas-Universe and placed 16th in the 1995 Miss Universe pageant.

3. Krista Kleiner

Krista was a runway model and a TV host and performing before winning the Binibining Pilipinas-International crown.

4. Megan Young

At the age of 15, Megan started her showbiz career in the talent search “Starstruck.” In 2013, she won the Miss World pageant held in Indonesia.

5. Valerie Weigmann

Valerie was a co-host on “Eat Bulaga” before representing the country in Miss World Philippines.

6. Mutya Crisostomo

Mutya got into showbiz as a young girl as she is the daughter of action star Tony Ferrer and former beauty queen Alice Crisostomo. She won the 1990 Mutya ng Pilipinas crown and was 2nd runner-up in the 1992 Miss Asia Pacific.

7. Lalaine Edson

Lalaine briefly worked for the Kapuso network before winning Binibining Pilipinas-World in 1999.

8. Pia Wurtzbach

Pia was a Kapamilya talent before becoming a beauty queen, appearing on several ABS-CBN shows and movies. In 2015, she became the third Filipina to win the Miss Universe crown.

9. Winwyn Marquez

The Kapuso actress, who is the daughter of actors Joey Marquez and Alma Moreno, won the 2017 Reina Hispanoamericana Filipinas title.
