One of the survivors revealed that the bus driver apologized to them after realizing that the brakes have failed.

"Nagsisigawan na po kami kasi sabi ng bus driver nawalan daw po siya ng preno, nagsosorry siya sa amin. Sabi niya, 'Sorry nawalan ako ng preno' tapos nagtayuan na po kami, sigawan, tapos iba po nagdadasal," the survivor shared.

(We were screaming because the bus driver said that the brakes have failed, he was saying sorry to us. He said, ‘Sorry, the brakes failed,’ and then we stood up, screamed while others prayed.)

Another survivor said that they heard an unfamiliar sound after the driver tried to hit the brakes. After that, he and his other schoolmates started to pray.

"Ginawa na lang po naming mga nasa likod kumapit na lang po kami tapos nagsign of the cross na lang kami ng sign of the cross, nagdasal na lang po kami na si God na po yung bahala," the student told GMA News.

(Those of us who are at the back held on and repeatedly made the sign of the cross. We prayed and entrusted everything unto God.)

One of the survivors also talked about noticing a smell of burning rubber and feeling some heat coming from the bus floor board before the accident.
