Many would believe that marriage is the key to a happily ever after. Nevertheless, some relationships are destined not to last forever – just like that of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Happy endings in fairy tales sometimes do not reflect in real life.

Below is a list of Filipino celebrity couples who called it quits after years of being together.

1. Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion

In the 1980s, Sharon Cuneta and Gabby Concepcion were one of the most renowned love teams during their time. Dear Heart and P.S. I Love You were some of the movies where the two starred together.

They got married on September 23, 1984. After three years, the couple’s marriage was declared null and void. Concepcion was charged with bigamy for allegedly marrying another woman before marrying Cuneta.

2. Dina Bonnevie and Vic Sotto

Actress Dina Bonnevie got married to comedian-host Vic Sotto in 1982 and were blessed with two children – Danica and Oyo.

The two separated in 1986 and six years after that, their marriage was annulled.

Decades after, the former couple are now good friends.

3. Carmina Villaroel and Rustom Padilla

On June 24, 1998, Carmina and Rustom tied the knot through a civil right conducted at the house of Padilla's at BF Homes in Parañaque City.

Unfortunately, in the same year, Villaroel claimed to have experienced psychological stress during her relationship with Padilla which provoked her to file for a petition nullifying their marriage.

4. Kristine Hermosa and Diether Ocampo

The former ABS-CBN talents got married on September 12, 2004, through a civil rite in Nueva Ecija. Not even a year has passed, on June 21, 2005, Hermosa filed for a nullification of their marriage.

The actress is now happily married to Oyo Boy Sotto with three children.

5. Sunshine Cruz and Cesar Montano

Sunshine Cruz filed an annulment case against her husband Cesar Montano in 2014. Cruz has accused the 54-year-old actor to have performed lascivious acts with the presence of their three daughters.

She also sued Montano in 2013 for allegedly raping her and for suffering from "physical harm, obscene accusations, and grave defamation" in the hands of her “very domineering, philandering" husband.

6. Kris Aquino and James Yap

After 5 months of courting, Kris Aquino finally said her “Yes I do” to professional basketball player James Yap on July 10, 2005.

The couple broke up in June 2010 which according to Aquino was due to personal reasons. Their marriage was officially annulled in February 2012.

7. Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera

The former couple who got married in June 1986 first met each other in 1982 with Pops Fernandez’ entry to showbiz.

Fernandez accused Nievera of infidelity which led her to file for an annulment three years after their wedding.
