Lea Salonga's brother nabbed in Pasig drug bust
- Lea Salonga's brother, Philip, was arrested in a bar in Julia Vargas, Pasig City early Friday, September 9, for drug peddling
- According to QCPD chief Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, Salonga was identified by two peddlers arrested earlier
- In his statement to the police, Philip had claimed that Lea did not know about his drug-peddling business
QCPD chief Senior Supt. Guillermo Eleazar confirmed that Lea Salonga's alleged half-brother, Philip, was nabbed by the police in a buy-bust operation in Pasig City early Friday, September 9.
According to reports, the operation which took place in a bar in Julia Vargas Ave. in Pasig City was led by Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Station 11, and had led to the arrest of Philip Salonga, 37. Found in his possessions were 12 ecstasy tablets, three packets of dried marijuana, a cell phone and approximately P14,000.

The suspect was identified as Philip Mendoza Salonga, a 37-year-old freelance chef residing at Freedom Lane, Interville 2, Sunville Subdivision, Tandang Sora, Quezon City.
According to Eleazar, a total of 80 tablets of ecstasy worth about P120,000 recovered from Salonga, 2 cohorts in separate drug stings. From these two other peddlers, Salonga was identified as the 'source'. He was also believed to be the half-brother of The Voice coach and singer Lea Salonga.
In his statement to the police, Philip had claimed that Lea did not know about his drug-peddling business.

"They have been operating for quite some time," Eleazar confirmed.
As of press time, no statement has been released by friends and families of either Philip Salonga or Lea Salonga.
