Julia, or Duday as what her family calls her, went viral after she took a video selfie while trying her best to wake her dad up.
Her father James Aguilar, also known as Didoy, has been in a coma for almost eight months now.
It was December 17 last year when the family had a small gathering to celebrate Didoy’s 26th birthday. They did not know that day would be last time they will see him strong and active. Joann, Duday’s mother and Didoy’s wife, woke up to the loudest and deepest snore she has ever heard from her husband at the middle of the night. Joann tried to awaken her husband, but failed.
(He looked like he was in a deep sleep while snoring, that was how I saw him. What I did was, I called out, ‘In Jesus name,’ those were the only words I was able to say.)

Upon arriving at the hospital, doctors tried to revive him six times until she was told her husband was dead on arrival, but she did not lose hope.
“Siyempre, kung ikaw asawa, hindi mo matatanggap ‘yun, ‘Doc, nurse ‘yan e, napakabait niyan, 26 years old," ganun pa ‘yung sinabi ko,” Joann recalled.
(Of course, if you are the wife, you won’t accept that. ‘Doc, my husband was a nurse; he was very kind, and only 26 years old.)
Eventually, Didoy breathe and was then transferred to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of the hospital. Didoy was diagnosed with Cerebral Ischemia secondary to prolonged cardiac arrest. It happens when there’s no enough blood circulation in the patient’s brain leading to paralysis.

Aside from Joann, their four-year-old daughter Duday is also very much affected. At her young age, Duday helps in taking care of her father.
Joann is very proud of Duday.
(She helps me, she would crush her daddy’s medicine. She arranges his things, she folds tissue paper, she is very thoughtful to her father. When I get to work, I would talk to her on the phone and she would tell me in detail what happened from start to end while I was gone.)

Joann shared she can feel her daughter is longing for her father. Duday used to be with him most of the time.
(These previous days, she’s looking for someone who would drop her off to school, she would tell me ‘Why daddy won’t still wake up’ because we have a motorcycle before which they used to ride then, that’s what she misses.)
