In a lengthy post released during Women’s Month, Tuesday said she was shocked by the lawmaker’s comments, describing them as dehumanizing and reflective of outdated attitudes toward women.

The words uttered are dehumanizing and reduces the personhood of the woman he ‘admired’.

DJ Chacha sa pananamit ng kababaihan: “We can wear the most proper clothes and still get harassed”

This is ethically problematic and harmful primarily because it involves objectification, a process where a person is reduced to a “thing” or a “commodity” for another’s pleasure, rather than being recognized as a whole human being with their own agency, thoughts, and feelings. Maliwanag na violation ito ng dignity.
Sexualizing women in everyday, nonsexual contexts reinforces the false idea that women are always available for consumption.
It reinforces broader societal inequalities (such as patriarchy) and it also deems mysoginy as a normal occurence. While some argue that attraction is natural, sabi nga nya ‘dapat nga matuwa pa siya kasi I gave her a compliment na maganda siya’, the reduction of a person to a mere object of lust—ignoring their humanity—is the core of the ethical issue.

NO MR. CONGRESSMAN, this action is totally unbecoming of a person in public office.

The controversy began after Rep. Bong Suntay made remarks referencing Anne Curtis during a congressional hearing, which sparked widespread criticism from lawmakers, celebrities, and the public. Suntay later issued an apology and clarified that he had never personally met Curtis and that his statement was meant only as an analogy.
