In a video posted by ABS-CBN News, she revealed that her father had spent several months in the hospital before they were able to bring him home, one that she had initially hoped to happened.
"Papa was in the hospital for five months. Hindi kami nakalabas ng hospital, hindi rin siya nakalabas ng hospital. Throughout those five months, ang daming tao na bumisita, ang daming tao na tumulong through their time, their words, their advice," Rikki Mae shared to the media.

Despite the long hospital stay, she shared that she had hoped to take her father home, if only briefly, "We were able to take him home and he was able to stay in the house for one week. Yun kasi talaga yung hope ko, na maiuwi namin si papa cause I don't want him to, ano, in the hospital."
The most heart-wrenching part of her story came when she recalled Ricky's last moments.
As doctors advised the family it was time to say their goodbyes, each family member took turns to speak to him privately, one that deeply resonated with the actor's fans and followers as well.
"Yung last moments namin, when we had an idea na medyo... you know, the doctor said, 'Baka it's time na rin to say your goodbyes.' We each went into the room, we talked to him individually. He was not able to [respond] kasi he was medicated na rin, his eyes were closed, pero alam mo, he had tears falling from his eyes. Alam ko na narinig niya ako," she shared to the local media.
Rikki Mae also revealed the last thing she ever told her father, words that summed up a lifetime of love and gratitude for him: "Yung last words ko kay papa is, 'Thank you for being the best papa, and I will always be your baby girl.' Yun yung last words ko sa kanya."
