Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio has tested positive for COVID-19 and is now in isolation.
This was confirmed through a Facebook post by her office on Saturday night.
“The Office of the City Mayor of Davao hereby informs the public that Mayor Sara Duterte tested positive for Covid-19 tonight,” the announcement read.
It also informed the public that the local chief executive has mild symptoms and is currently in isolation facility that also cares for other family members who required medical attention.

The post also discourages the public from sending Mayor Sara tokens or well wishes as her family is requesting for complete privacy.
“The family requests for complete privacy at this time and respectfully urge the public to refrain from sending tokens for well wishes,” it said.
The announcement also advised those who have come in close contact with Mayor Sara to monitor themselves for symptoms and to get tested for COVID infection after five or seven days from contact with the local chief executive.
Sara Zimmerman Duterte-Carpio, is the incumbent Mayor of Davao City. She was born May 31, 1978. She is a lawyer by profession and is the daughter of President Rodrigo Duterte. She is married to lawyer Manases "Mans" R. Carpio since October 27, 2007. They met in Manila while Sara was still attending San Beda University. They have three children, Mikhaila Maria, Mateo Lucas, and Marko Digong.
Last month, Mayor Sara declared that she will no longer seek the position of president in the 2022 elections. The mayor said she came to this decision after her father, President Rodrigo Duterte, decidedto accept his party’s nomination for the vice-presidency. In recent weeks, Mayor Sara also made some revelatons about the plan of her father and his trusted aide, Sen. Bong Go. She also said that her father asked her to let Sen. Go run as her Vice-President in next year’s elections.
In a firm confirmation of what she declared last month, Mayor Sara on October 2 filed her Certificate of Candidacy for Mayor of Davao City. It would appear that she is bent on getting re-elected as Davao City's local chief executive. She also shared photos of her filing the COC on her social media accounts.
