KAMI learned that during the interview, Rabiya denied that she had an affair with a powerful person to win the Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant.
The beauty queen believes that the rumor started because she was a “dark horse” in the pageant and was not expected to win.
After learning about these nasty rumors, Rabiya spoke to her mother and told her to ignore the hateful comments about her because it is normal for celebrities to be gossiped about.

She also told her mom that what is important is that they know they are good people even in their private lives.
“Noong nanalo ako ng Miss Universe Philippines, kasi diba dark horse ako nun? Ang narinig kong issue ‘Ay nagging third party yan kaya nanalo yan.’
“That was nasty. Kaya siyempre isa akong babae na lahat ng meron ako pinaghirapan ko.
“So kinausap ko yung mama ko. Kasi kung ako nasasaktan, times 10 yun sa nanay ko.
“So siya talaga yung sinabihan ko na ‘Ma, tatagan mo yung loob mo kasi yung pinasok ko, public property na ako. Wala na tayo say kung anong gagawing issue ng mga tao. Pero ang importante ay alam naman natin na mabuti tayo kahit walang nakatingin sa atin,’” Rabiya shared.
Rabiya Mateo became well-known after she won the Miss Universe Philippines 2020. She became beloved for her beauty, confidence and intelligence and for her humble background.
The beauty queen represented the Philippines in the 69th Miss Universe pageant, entering the top 21 but failing to get to the top 10.
The Miss Universe Philippines 2020 pageant became controversial due to allegations of cheating. Miss Davao Alaiza Malinao defended the winner, Rabiya Mateo, saying that the cheating allegations against her are untrue.
Miss Universe 2018 Catriona Gray is also one of the high-profile celebrities who expressed their support for Rabiya. The famous beauty queen supported Rabiya by welcoming her to the “sisterhood.”
