She said that they have been planning the special event for years, way before the pandemic started.

Rep. Bautista also said that the celebration itself was a product of the hard work of her husband.

“This celebration of our love was a product of my husband’s hard work,” Bautista said.

She also expressed pain at seeing how things turned out after their wedding.

“My husband has been planning this special day with me for years even before the pandemic, and it pains us to see how things after our wedding turned out,” the DUMPER-PTDA party-list representative said.

Bautista reiterated that her grand wedding is the culminating event of a love story that took decades to build.

“This was supposed to be the culminating event of a decades-long love story,” her statement said.

The party-list rep then defended her husband, saying he is a kind and loving individual and that all he wanted was to give her a dream wedding.

“My husband is a kind and loving person and all he wanted was to give me the wedding of my dreams,” Bautista said.

She then addressed the plight of PUV drivers, saying that she has responded to the various issues about them, claiming that through her efforts, around 18,000 PUV drivers have already received COVID vaccines.

Rep. Claudine Diana “Deendee” Bautista is a Pinoy politician presently serving as the party-list representative for the Drivers United for Mass Progress and Equal Rights – Philippine Taxi Drivers Association (DUMPER-PTDA). Rep. Bautista also owns a professional basketball team named Davao Occidental Tigers. On February 20, 2021, she married her childhood friend, Jose French “Tracker” Lim in a civil ceremony solemnized by Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte. On August 11, 2021, the couple was again married in a lavish wedding at the posh resort island of Balesin. Wearing a Michael Cinco gown that is reportedly worth hundreds of thousands of pesos, the celebration had the makings of a fairytale wedding. The celebration, however, generated a lot of criticisms from netizens due to its alleged insensitivity to the ongoing health crisis that has rendered thousands of drivers, her constituents, without work.

Over the weekend, International Filipino designer Michael Cinco posted the wedding gown of Cong. Claudine Bautista, which might have contributed to the entire controversy. Cinco described the bride as "beautiful Congresswoman Deendee." The blushing bride "looks radiant in a couture Michael Cinco beaded wedding gown." The renowned fashion designer also stated that the wedding was an intimate wedding ceremony on a lavish private island in Balesin.

Event stylist Gideon Hermosa, on the other hand, took to Instagram and posted videos of the beautiful setup of Cong. Claudine Bautista's wedding. He was proud of another "gideonized" wedding destination at no other than the luxurious Balesin Island. As per Gideon's post, the reception was at The Balesin Marquee. The renowned event stylist successfully transformed the marquee tent into a dazzling ballroom for the newlyweds and their guests.
