Nas Academy has officially revealed that they will be pausing operations in the Philippines amid the controversy involving Whang-Od Academy.
In a Facebook post, Nas explained why they started "Nas Academy" and it's because they think that everyone should become a teacher.
"We wanted everyone inside and outside the Philippines to become a teacher, because knowledge is the only thing that increases when you give it away."
"Sadly, some of our intentions have been misunderstood, as we can see with Whang-Od Academy. But our goal has always been to help people become teachers, with their input and consent."
Nas reiterated its commitment to working with the National Commission on Indigenous People (NICP), and at the same time, it stated that they are pausing operations in the Philippines.
It also stated that they have full respect and belief in both the Filipino people and its culture.

Vlogger Nas Daily was involved in a controversy after netizens called him out for his "Whang-Od Academy." He posted a video, which allegedly showed the popular tattoo artist legend, affixing her thumbmark on the agreement. He said that Apo Whang-Od and her family loved the idea of the Apo Whang-Od academy and that they worked with Nas to realize it. He said that it was Whang-Od who was teaching herself and that her niece, Etella Palangdao, was present and the one who translated the content.

Nas Daily has been accused of exploiting Kalinga's legendary tattoo artist. Later, the vlogger showed a video clip where the elderly was affixing her thumbmark on a document, which Nas said was her consent to the project. Because of the controversy, his Facebook page has seen a huge drop on followers, and as of writing, it already lost close to 400,000.
