Derek Ramsay finally broke his silence and said his piece about John Lloyd Cruz, the ex-lover of controversial actress, Ellen Adarna.
Derek clarified that he is not trying to compare himself with JL, such as who between them is the better partner for Ellen Adarna.

Derek and Ellen explained that it so happened they were both much ready to enter into a serious relationship as compared in the past. This does not also mean they encountered problems with their ex-lovers.
It can be recalled that Ellen and JL became a couple in 2017 and rumors of their falling out surfaced only in 2019.
On the other hand, Derek confirmed he is in a relationship with Andrea Torres in September of 2019. The couple broke up in November of 2020.
Derek and Ellen met at a New Year’s party hosted by the actor and the following month, they confirmed they are a couple.
Online columnist G3 San Diego then asked Ellen about what aspect does she find herself sure about Derek that she did not have with John Lloyd.
“What were you sure about with Derek that you weren't sure about with John Lloyd?” San Diego asked.
Ellen answered that she and Derek connected. “First is the connection, it is the communication. He met me at the right time. He met me because during the pandemic, I fixed myself, I worked on myself. I did a lot of inner work,” the actress said.
Derek then interjected and added his own insight. “Ellen is not saying and I’m not saying I’m better than JL or better than her exes. It’s not that. Or Ellen is better than any of my exes. We met at the right time. We were meant to be and that’s how it works,” Derek said.

Ellen Meriam Go Adarna, is a Filipino actress born on April 2, 1988. She is the only daughter of a Filipina-Chinese mom and Filipino father. Their family owns several hotels and condominiums. They also own Queensland — the chain of motels in Cebu with branches in Davao and Manila. Ellen started her career as a model and eventually entered the showbiz industry.
Derek Arthur Paggao Ramsay, Jr., or simply Derek Ramsay, on the other hand, is the son of a Filipina mother and British father. He was born in Enfield, England on December 7, 1976, but he spent most of his adult life in Cainta, Rizal, Philippines. During the 2000s, Derek found work as a model, MTV VJ, and TV commercial actor.

Last month, Derek proposed marriage to Ellen and the actress happily accepted. Recently, the couple revealed they might wed this year though they did not go into any details for the wedding. The couple also revealed that they did not want a grand wedding and Ellen even initially wanted to simply elope but later changed her mind.
The couple also had some words for their bashers and haters. The actor said that the world lacks belief and understanding of love and that it took him 44 years to truly fall in love. Derek also said that people shouldn't obsess about finding love and to not hate on those who have found it.
