COVID-19 could last for a long-time even with worldwide vaccine rollout: experts say

- The head of the European Union's disease control agency stated that there is a possibility that the novel coronavirus could last for a long time

- This was even though there is already a global vaccine rollout that is currently taking place

- It revealed that the virus seemed to be well-adapted to humans, which means that the vaccine may have to be tweaked every now and then

- It appealed to people as a whole that everyone should just be prepared at the possibility that the virus will remain for a long time

Countries, populations have hoped that the vaccines will be the all-time solution for the pandemic.

However, Andrea Ammon, the head of the European Union's Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Stockholm revealed to AFP that the virus may last for a long time even with the rollout.

She described the virus as very well-adapted to humans, that just like the flu, the vaccines need to be tweaked over time.

In ABS-CBN's report, experts have already warned that vaccines are not the solution to end the pandemic unless countries will be able to receive the doses in a fast and also fair manner.

There were already more than 107 million people who have been infected all over the world and almost 2.4 million have succumbed to the virus, reported Manila Standard.

Authors stated in an open letter that was published in The Lancet medical journal, stated that "it could be years before the coronavirus is brought under control at a global level," reported Daily Sabah.
