Vic was born on 28th April 1954 in Manila. His full name is Marvic Valentin Castelo Sotto Sr. He is the son of Dr. Herminia Castelo (mother) and Marcelino Antonio Ojeda Sotto Sr. (father).
Vic Sotto brothers are Valmar Sotto, a singer, comedian, composer, and actor, Vicente Sotto III, a politician, and Mercelino Sotto Jr.

Career
Vic began his career as a guitarist and a folk singer. He was also the lead vocalist of the disco-funk band dubbed VST and Company. While singing at the band, he produced songs such as Awitin Mo At Isasayaw Ko, Kung Sakali, and Rock Baby Rock.
In the early 1970s, Vic joined his brothers Tito and Val in the gag show dubbed Ok Lang under IBC 13. At the show, they met and joined with comedian Joey de Leon, and they formed a casting in Iskul Bukol, Rock and Roll 2000, TVJ Television's Jesters, and Eating Bulaga.
