The said action was to honor the basketball legend who passed away because of a helicopter crash that also killed his daughter and several others.
Number 24 was significant to Kobe since it was the number that he used when he played for Los Angeles Lakers until 2016.
The very creative and heartwarming tribute immediately received a standing ovation from the people who were watching inside the venue. It also gained praises in the online world.
