Chandra described him as a hardworking and positive person who had no known health problems.
Still, he noted that Pandey had told his roommate and colleagues he was under heavy stress from handling many projects at once.
His uncle, Manoj Pandey, said friends and roommates shared that he often worked for very long hours.
Police said they found no suspicious activity and are not treating the case as a criminal matter.
Pandey was originally from India and moved to the United States a decade ago to pursue his master’s degree at San Jose State University.
He joined Microsoft in 2020 and had previously worked at Apple, Illumina, and Walmart Labs.
After his death, his uncle called on tech companies to take better care of employees who work late at night.
He said companies should reduce workplace pressure and anxiety to help save lives.
He added that losing a loved one brings deep pain to families, and more support from companies could prevent such tragedies.
